Adventure Leader Training

PROGRAMME CONTENT

The increasing worldwide demand for training that is more relevant to the actual needs of employers is evident and the Adventure Leader Programme is just that. Training that has a big emphasis on practical skills development, a focus on work experience and customer time, work ethic, people skills, life skills and personal development.

Students will travel the country receiving Technical Skills instruction in the following adventure activities:

  • Wilderness Living and Travel Skills
  • Off Trail Navigation and Route Finding
  • Kayaking
  • Rock Climbing
  • Sea Kayaking
  • Sailing and Windsurfing
  • Challenges High Ropes Courses
  • Pool Lifeguard Training
  • Outdoor First Aid

On top of their personal skills students will build up and expand their Leadership Skills, with specific training in the following areas:

  • Risk Management Training
  • Leadership and Group Management
  • Lesson Planning
  • Instructing adventure activities to an introductory level
  • Work Experience, leading adventure activities

Interspersed with these skills, lies the development of People and Life Skills, including for example

  • Budgeting & Finances
  • Organisational Skills
  • Effective communication
  • How to build rapport
  • Presentation and Facilitation Skills

The programme also facilitates opportunities to explore yourself as an individual, and your role as part of a team. We believe that this Personal Development is of value for any future direction or pathway.

  • Taking ownership, responsibility and more.
