NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand is famous for its amazing scenery, its sporting achievements and people who are openminded, adventureous and hospitable. Each region in New Zealand has unique features and fun places to visit. Therefore New Zealand is being recognised for its excellent study and travel opportunities.
With a population of only 4 million there is a feeling of space and freedom - a dream destination for outdoor minded people, evoking thoughts of adventure, exploration and unspoiled nature. Because of it's unique place in the Pacific, New Zealand provides great contrasts in a small area. You are never more than a few hours away from the sea, mountains, glaciers or the rainforest. In fact all of the larger cities are on the coastline with vistas of blue seas and green hills. And just inland are the mountains, which provide the backbone of the two major islands (North and South Island) with hiking and mountaineering all year round and skiing for up to six months of the year.
New Zealand covers 278,000 km2 - roughly the same size as Great Britain, but with a total population of 4 million, of which over 1 million live in Auckland. Auckland is the 'big city' of the South Pacific and is the largest Polynesian city in the world.
