Adventure Leader Training

SUMMARY

The Gap Year /Adventure Leader programme is an exciting 16 week course offering training, travel and work in New Zealand.

New Zealand is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. It's small and compact size (278,000 sq. km.) and unique place in the world allows us to go from golden beaches, rainforests, spectacular river gorges to alpine snowfields all in one day!

Aimed at overseas students, participants of the International Adventure Leader/GAP Year programme will join New Zealand students to train in a range of outdoor activities and travel as part of a small dynamic team, using all of New Zealand's South Island as their classroom.

The training includes both technical and leadership skills, personal development and life skills, travelling, social time and assistance in gaining paid employment.

Fact File
The first flight of a powered manned aircraft was actually made by a twenty-five year old New Zealander, Richard Pearse on March 31, 1902. This means that he beat the Wright brothers by 1 year and 9 months (you can see a model of his aircraft at Auckland MOTAT - Museum of Technology and Transport)
